Description
The Senior Manager, Quality Assurance oversees testing and quality processes across IT and wider
business areas. They manage the QA team and ensure that quality is built into all project deliverables
and that all business requirements are met. They drive successful execution to ensure results aligns with
business needs in collaboration with other teams and are advocates for QA across the enterprise.
In this capacity, the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance will:
Evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices;
Oversee all aspects of quality assurance including establishing metrics, applying industry best practices,
and developing new tools and processes to ensure quality goals are met;
Work closely with InfoSec to incorporate security test results into project stage-gate reviews;
Act as key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA
resources internally and externally;
Lead and mentor QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers;
For third party contractors, handle the review and processing of timesheets, invoicing and related items;
Provide guidance to team members and support their growth and development;
Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on
business requirements and functional specifications;
Coordinate with project stakeholders, including business analysts, developers, and subject matter
experts, to define testing scope, objectives, and timelines;
Use project planning tools and participate in the identification of and planning for future resource needs;
Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements within Quality Assurance and Testing. Make
recommendations to IT leadership as appropriate;
Provide leadership and expertise within the field of Quality Assurance and Testing;
Focus on continuous QA improvements including usage of appropriate testing processes, techniques,
automation, and performance; and
Build and maintain quality standards, as well as enforcing technical and testing standards.
Proficiencies:
The Senior Manager, Quality Assurance demonstrates knowledge of the following processes, tools or
applications:
Experience with JIRA or equivalent test and issue management tool;
Experience with test case management tools such as Zephyr for JIRA;
Familiarity with Visual Studio;
Extensive knowledge of software testing methodologies;
Expert knowledge of Quality Assurance best practices;
Expert proficiency with Microsoft applications and the legal desktop;
Advanced knowledge of testing activities, manual, automated and non-functional testing procedures and
tools;
Advanced knowledge of SDLC in an Agile or Waterfall environment; and
Advanced skills in designing and implementing testing and QA best practices.
Qualifications:
10+ years of Quality Assurance experience supporting large, critical business applications, and at least
6+ years in a test program management role;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that non-technical end users can understand;
Excellent communicator, displaying good influencing and negotiation skills;
10+ years managing teams of individuals at all levels. Possesses advanced leadership skills;
Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software is necessary;
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills;
A passion for great usability and the quality of software solutions;
ISTQB Advanced or equivalent preferred; and
Law firm experience (preferred).
