Forensics Tech III Job Description


Forensics Techs perform collections, recovery and analysis of ESI in a forensically sound and defensible manner as well as designing a variety of technical solutions. Applying technical expertise and innovation, professionalism and quality, giving meticulous attention to detail, Forensic Techs support client’s complex problems.


  • Imaging and data extraction of messaging systems, file systems, hard drives, portable storage, and mobile devices
  • Recovering deleted, corrupted or encrypted data
  • Performing secure, defensible deletions
  • Technical documentation of forensics procedures, quality control processes, analysis reporting, and proposals
  • Handling evidence complying with companies Chain of Custody processes
  • Designing a variety of innovative technical solutions
  • Training and mentoring junior teammates
  • Client consultation for collection, eDiscovery, and analysis matters
  • Expert report writing
  • Occasional expert testimony, including drafting affidavits, depositions, and court testimony


  • Experience imaging, data extraction and analysis using industry standard computer forensics technology, such as EnCase, Forensic Toolkit, and Cellebrite UFED
  • Ground level computer forensic certification required (CCE or equivalent)
  • Tool-based certifications a plus (EnCE, ACE, CCME)
  • Experience with multiple operating systems including UNIX/Linux, Windows, OS X, Android and iOS
  • Experience with file system and data management forensics
  • Knowledge of network, security, encryption mythologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills along with technical writing experience
  • Expert testimony experience (affidavits, expert reports, trial testimony)
  • Detail and quality oriented
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel as required
  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience along with 5+ years of computer forensics experience
