The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the quality, stability and reliability of the firm’s desktop, laptop and tablet computing environment.


  • Configure, deploy and maintain the firm’s desktop, laptop and tablet computing environments
  • Create installation packages for all new installs and upgrades
  • Test and implement updates to the Windows environment
  • Integrate, configure and optimize software installations and upgrades
  • Maintain quarterly update of BIOS, firmware and drivers
  • Maintain quarterly roll-up of task sequence to include all updates, upgrades, patches and bug fixes deployed
  • Utilizing SCCM and other utilities, report on the Firm’s workstation fleets including PC specifications, PC usage, deployment success, and software usage/metering
  • Maintain version control of SCCM Task Sequences
  • Develop and implement test plans for new software and hardware implementation
  • Compile and maintain workstation design documentation
  • Troubleshoot and correct Windows environment flaws and errors
  • Ensure the reliability and quality of the platform-specific designs through proactive measures
  • Assist the Technical Support Services Team in resolving escalated workstation issues
  • Review tickets in the firm’s ticketing system
  • Create knowledge base articles for Technical Support Services Team to utilize
  • Work with customers and other IS staff to troubleshoot and resolve endpoint computing issues, both on-network and through remote access
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve customer satisfaction with our systems
  • Position requires work to be performed onsite during scheduled work hours



Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in advanced Windows system design and development and deployment experience in a complex, multi-vendor network environment.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment a plus.
  • Experience working with Active Directory and Group Policies within Windows 10
  • Hands-on experience in DNS, DHCP and Group Policies
  • Experience using SCCM for system deployments, updates and upgrades
  • Experience using SCCM and other packaging tools for application deployment
  • Experience integrating, configuring and optimizing software applications and Windows Operating System
  • Strong knowledge of HP and Microsoft hardware
  • Hands-on experience with a wide variety of desktop applications, Microsoft Office 2016, Outlook 2016,
  • Document Management SystemsMetadata removal tools, document comparison tools and law-firm specific utilities
  • Hands-on experience with remote access and mobile computing solutions including Citrix, and Microsoft Direct Access
  • High school diploma required.  College degree preferred.
