As a member of the Desktop Engineering team, this role reports to the Applications Manager and is responsible for the coordination, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of desktop applications across the Firm. The Desktop Applications Engineer also assists with the integration of applications with business systems and provides support of other related projects.

• Provide continuous support for applications and services, including investigation, analysis, testing, maintenance, and improvement
• Work with firm attorneys and staff to support, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to business systems and desktop applications
• Prepare accurate written functional and technical documentation of user needs, program functions, and maintenance processes. Create technical documentation for inclusion in the firm’s knowledge base to assist with troubleshooting efforts.
• Improve user desktop experiences through regular OS (Operating System) and application optimizations, automation, and streamlined processes
• Assist professional staff with research, resolutions, and support of applications as needed
• Proactively monitor telemetry data to identify issues with supported systems and advise management of trends
• Work closely with vendors to maintain efficient methods for installation, updates and upgrades of all client-computing software


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or relevant equivalent work experience required
• Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment a plus
• Five (5) plus years of experience implementing, administering and supporting multiple enterprise level business systems and applications
• Five (5) plus years of experience with Windows Server technologies, with advanced understanding of the following areas: Computer Networking, Active Directory, File Shares/Permissions, Group Policies, Windows Registry and Active Setup, Common Windows Runtimes, Windows deployment and administration tools
• Possesses the ability to read, write and interpret windows scripting languages (i.e. PowerShell)
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office deployments, customizations, and add-ins
• Advanced knowledge of and experience working with browsers (i.e. IE and Chrome) customizations, security settings, policies, and plug-ins
• Experience using SCCM for application deployments and upgrades
• Experience monitoring, deciphering and responding to windows telemetry data
• Hands-on experience with remote access and mobile computing solutions

• The ability to multi-task, prioritize/coordinate deadlines and track progress of tasks while utilizing time efficiently
• The ability to comprehend and research complex technical issues with minimal supervision

• Ability to perform off-hours support as needed for system monitoring and maintenance and to assist with time-sensitive customer requests
• Flexibility and willingness to respond to issues during and outside of core business hours
